Who Will Play Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show?

The NFL’s short list of possible performers for the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show on Feb. 11 reportedly includes three superstars. The act/s sharing the coveted global stage are usually announced in November or December — meaning that secret negotiations are already underway.

Taylor Swift, Harry Styles
Taylor Swift and Harry Styles — who dated in 2012 and 2013 and are pictured here at the 2021 Grammys — are both favorited by FanDuel to play next year’s Super Bowl.

Though the NFL is not talking, people close to the organization — and to the pool of potential superstars they’re interested in — have a habit of doing just that. And reports have produced a short list consisting of pop chameleon Miley Cyrus, English pop superstar Harry Styles, and Puerto Rican superstar (and previous Super Bowl performer) Bad Bunny.

FanDuel has the odds of Cyrus at +300, followed by Styles at +600, and Bad Bunny — who already sold out Allegiant Stadium twice in September 2022 — at +900.

But FanDuel also lists Taylor Swift fourth at +900, when those odds should probably be much, much higher.

Swift — who also sold out Allegiant Stadium twice, in March 2023 — has reportedly turned down the NFL in multiple previous years. And next year apparently continues this trend.

“She wants to be a part of the show at some point and is leaning towards doing it in a few years — especially if the Super Bowl is in Nashville,” an unnamed source close to the NFL told Britan’s Daily Mail on Aug. 23. “But when it comes to Vegas, any Taylor fans shouldn’t be excited that she is going to do it, because it isn’t happening.”

One look at Swift’s international touring schedule is enough to verify how impossible a Swift halftime show would be. She’s performing in Tokyo the night before, which would give her zero time to rehearse.

Governor’s Choice

Nevada’s chief elected official made his choice of halftime performer known at an NFL press conference on Wednesday, Aug 23.

“AC/DC,” Gov. Joe Lombardo told reporters . “I was going to yell it out, but yeah, I’m serious. Bring ’em back.”

The Aussie heavy metal band has never played the Super Bowl, though it is still headlining festivals, with singer Brian Johnson back in the fold.

AC/DC is not on Fan Duel’s list of likely halftime performers. But Billie Eilish (+1100), Doja Cat (+1100), The Killers (+1200), and Jack Harlow (+1300) are.

The NFL works with rapper/mogul Jay-Z and his entertainment company, Roc Nation, on lining up and producing every Super Bowl halftime show. Their accomplishments so far have included sets by Rhianna (2023), Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent (2022), The Weeknd (2021), and Shakira, J-Lo, Bad Bunny, and Balvin (2020).
