BREAKING: Lisa Marie Presley, Only Child of Elvis, Dies of Heart Attack

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of late music legend Elvis Presley, died Thursday after being hospitalized for a heart attack. The singer-songwriter was 54.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley, her mother, said in a media statement. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

According to TMZ, which first broke the story, Lisa Marie was found unresponsive by her housekeeper in her bedroom this morning. Her ex-husband, Danny Keough – with whom she lived – had just returned home from dropping at school the two children Lisa Marie had with a subsequent ex-husband, Michael Lockwood. Keough administered CPR until paramedics took over.

Arriving at 10:43 a.m., the paramedics could not find a pulse, according to TMZ‘s report, but were able to restore it by administering at least one epinephrine shot before rushing her to a nearby hospital. After she arrived, a temporary pacemaker was implanted and a coma induced. But it was too late.

TMZ quoted unnamed sources claiming that Lisa Marie had complained earlier Thursday morning of stomach pains that grew increasingly intense. “The sources wanted to make clear … this was NOT a suicide attempt,” TMZ reported.

One Presley Tragedy After Another

Lisa Marie is survived by her mother, her ex-husbands Keough, Lockwood, and actor Nicolas Cage, and her three children, including actress Riley Keough. A fourth child, her son Benjamin, died by suicide in 2020. Lisa Marie was also married to late pop superstar Michael Jackson from 1994 to 1996.

The singer-songwriter, who released three albums of original music during her lifetime, was the sole heir to the Elvis fortune, which includes Graceland, Elvis’ famous Memphis mansion. She also owned and operated the lucrative Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005, when she sold 85% of it off, excluding the Graceland property where her father is buried.

Elvis Presley died in Graceland in 1977 of a heart attack, which was most likely brought on by his addiction to prescription drugs.

This latest Presley family tragedy comes only two days after Lisa Marie, along with Priscilla, attended the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills to cheer on actor Austin Butler. He won the Best Actor for a Drama Motion Picture Award for playing the lead in the 2022 movie Elvis.

It seemed like a joyous way to cap off a week that began by celebrating what would have been Elvis’ 88th birthday on Sunday.
