Heading into Week 4 of the NFL season, you should be able to add these waiver wire pickups to bolster your fantasy football team: Romeo Doubs (Green Bay Packers), Tyler Conklin (New York Jets), Jamaal Williams (Detroit Lions), Marcus Mariota (Tennessee Titans), Khalil Herbert (Chicago Bears), and Zay Jones (Jacksonville Jaguars).
After the first three weeks of the NFL season, you should have a clearer picture of which teams are actually good, and which teams are in trouble. Injuries are beginning to pile up, so here’s your chance to grab the proverbial “next man up” on rosters.
Romeo Doubs (WR, Green Bay Packers)
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has trust issues. But if you can get on his good side as a wide receiver, then the two-time reigning NFL MVP can turn you into an All-Pro. Romeo Doubs, a rookie out of Nevada, had a breakout performance for the Green Bay Packers in Week 3’s 14-12 victory against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Doubs caught eight passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. He notched 21.3 fantasy points in PPR leagues.
Every single day, there’s at least one ‘Wow!’ play from Romeo,” Rodgers said about Doubs during training camp.
In the first two weeks, Rodgers targeted Doubs eight times. In Week 3 against the Bucs, Doubs had eight targets and hauled in all eight receptions. Doubs quickly ascended the depth chart ahead of veterans like Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb. The rookie now leads the Packers with 14 receptions, 16 targets, and 137 receiving yards. If you’re thin at wide receiver, Doubs is a worthy waiver wire pickup for Week 4.

Tyler Conklin (TE, New York Jets)
The New York Jets get a bad rap, so there’s added value if your opponents overlook the top offensive weapons from those LOL Jets. Tyler Conklin started his career with the Minnesota Vikings, but he quietly posted impressive stats in his first season with the Jets. He’s ranked #3 overall in fantasy tight ends behind Mark Andrews and Travis Kelce.
In three games with Gang Green, Conklin caught 18 passes for 140 yards and one touchdown. Conklin has been targeted 24 times, or second best on the Jets behind rookie wideout Garrett Wilson. Conklin and Wilson are tied for the team lead with 18 catches.
The downside is that quarterback Zach Wilson should return to action as early as Week 4. Joe Flacco replaced Wilson as the starter, but he could resume backup duties. Conklin established a strong bond with Flacco in the first three weeks of the season, so we’ll see if Conklin can remain a main focal point of the Jets’ passing offense with Wilson back at the helm.
Jamaal Williams (RB, Detroit Lions)
In three games with the Detroit Lions, veteran running back Jamaal Williams rushed 43 times for 168 yards and four touchdowns. He’s averaging 3.9 yards per carry this season.
In a loss against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3, Williams rushed 20 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns. He also added two receptions and 20 receiving yards.
A risque touchdown celebration by Williams went viral on Sunday. He incurred a penalty flag from officials for his gyrating version of the “Hingle McCringleberry” skit from Key & Peele fame.
I’ve been doing that dance forever,” Williams told the Detroit Free Press. “They didn’t give me no explanation. They probably was just jealous of my hip movements.”
The Lions are fortunate they have depth in the backfield. Starting running back D’Andre Swift injured his shoulder against the Vikings. Swift will not require surgery, but he could miss games or see limited action in the next couple of weeks.

Khalil Herbert (RB, Chicago Bears)
The Chicago Bears relied on backup running back Khalil Herbert in Week 3 after David Montgomery exited the game with an ankle injury. Herbert unleashed a dazzling performance and recorded the highest point total out of any fantasy players in Week 3 with 30.9 PPR points. In a 23-20 victory against the Houston Texans, Herbert racked up 157 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 20 carries. He averaged a whopping 7.9 yards per carry. He also added 12 receiving yards on two receptions.
As a rookie, Herbert filled in for a banged-up Montgomery during a four-game stretch last October. Expect Herbert to fill in for Montgomery in the ensuing weeks.

Marcus Mariota (QB, Atlanta Falcons)
If you’re streaming a quarterback this season, Mariota from the Atlanta Falcons is a solid pick up for Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have a porous defense. They allow the sixth-most points per game (28.3), and they’re ranked #23 in total DVOA.
So long as Mariota is healthy, he’s putting up numbers, especially as a quarterback with running skills. He rushed for 72 yards in Week 1.
Mariota threw three touchdowns in the last two games, and added a rushing score in Week 3 in a big win against the Seattle Seahawks.
Sleeper Pickup: Zay Jones (WR, Jacksonville Jaguars)
Last week, we liked tight end Evan Engram from the Jacksonville Jaguars as our fantasy sleeper pickup. In Week 4, we’re giving teammate Zay Jones a well-deserved signal boost.
In his first season with the Jaguars, Jones emerged as the WR #2 option behind Christian Kirk and ahead of Marvin Jones. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence looks better every week under new head coach Doug Pederson, and in turn, so does the offense. Lawrence and Jones quickly developed a rapport, which blossomed last Sunday.
Jones caught 10 passes for 85 yards and one touchdown in Week 3’s blowout victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. Jones now leads the Jaguars with 19 receptions. He’s second in total targets with 24 versus 27 from Christian Kirk.
