NFLâs Alvin Kamara, Chris Lammons Get Plea Deal for Casino Assault

Two well-known pro football players are avoiding jail time after they reached a plea agreement for an assault of a third man at a Las Vegas casino last year.
Under the deal, New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara and Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chris Lammons both will complete 30 hours of community service, according to recent reports.
The two men also both will pay the victim, Darnell Greene, $105,196.17 for medical bills, according to TMZ.
The defendants recently both pleaded no contest to the criminal charge of breach of peace, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
Kamara and three other suspects originally were charged with the more severe crimes of battery with substantial bodily harm and conspiracy to commit battery for the incident at Drai’s After Hours, located at the Cromwell Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
The violence unfolded after Kamara allegedly kept Greene from entering an elevator outside the nightclub.
It remains unclear how long the NFL will suspend Kamara for, given the incident. He may be ordered to sit out somewhere between four and six football games, according to recent reports.
Lawsuit Settled
A civil lawsuit filed by Greene against Kamara, tied to the assault, was also settled, news reports revealed.
Details of the settlement were not released. But the settlement included an apology from Kamara to Greene.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the events of February 5, 2022 in Las Vegas,” Kamara stated. “I am happy that we were able to get on the other side of this unfortunate incident, and I wish you the best for the future.”
Greene initially sought over $10M in the civil court action filed in Louisiana.
Greene claimed he was kicked, punched and chased. His head also hit a wall during the confrontation.
He also fell down and lost consciousness, he claimed.
Greene suffered a “disfiguring facial fracture” and blunt trauma to his head from the assault, according to court documents.
Two other suspects, Percy Harris and Darrin Young, also agreed to plea deals where they pleaded no contest to battery. Each will serve 50 hours of community service or pay a $500 fine.
They will not go to the Las Vegas Strip for six months, under the deal.
The four suspects earlier this year each pled not guilty to conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm for the attack.
The incident took place during Pro Bowl Weekend. It was played at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium with Kamara taking part in the game.
Almost Beaten to Death
Tony Buzbee, a Texas-based attorney who represented Greene, earlier this year called the attack “an unprovoked beating of an innocent man by a group of men led by Mr. Kamara.
“Mr. Greene was only trying to get on an elevator and was beaten almost to death,” Buzbee added.
