VEGAS RESTAURANT ROUNDUP: Ta-ta Twice from Tacos & Tequila, Ice Creamery Rises, Vegan No Viva

Tacos & Tequilla, the Mexican restaurant known for its margaritas and Sunday mariachi brunches, will close for good after serving on Sept. 10. This will be its second closure in five years.

Tacos & Tequila opened in April 2022 in a 4,000 square-foot space at Palace Station. For more than a decade ending in 2018, it was at the Luxor, in the spot since occupied by Diablo’s Cantina.

Why it’s shuttering less than a year and a half after relocating, no one is saying. However, disappointing business is pretty much the only reason any restaurant closes in Las Vegas.

Voicemails left with Tacos & Tequila owner Drive This Entertainment — a Vegas-based hospitality company founded by Michael Frey and Craig Gilbert — were not returned before deadline.

Creamery Rises

The popular Sorry Not Sorry Creamery will open at We All Scream on Sept. 21. That’s the 10,000 square-foot nightlife venue with ice cream owned by downtown entertainment impresario Ryan Doherty at 517 E. Fremont St.

Sorry Not Sorry Creamery — which features ice cream made using hormone- and antibiotic- free milk from grass-fed cows — has generated a buzz since opening on Flamingo Road west of the Strip in 2022.

Presumably, Sorry Not Sorry will replace We All Scream’s current ice creamery.

Dining Ins & Outs

In other confectionary news, luxury cakemaker Lady M Confections will open its first Las Vegas location at Resorts World this fall. Lady M is the creator of the Mille Crêpes, a cake baked with 20 alternating layers of soft cream and French crêpes.

This is only bad news for fans of Craig’s Vegan, whose space in The District Lady M will replace. Craig’s last day is Monday, Sept. 4.

Queen Las Vegas — an LGBTQ+ boutique hotel from Q Group Hospitality and Eduardo Cordova founder of The Garden bar – opens its restaurant on Friday, Sept. 1 at 1215 Las Vegas Blvd. South downtown. Later in the month, the Queen’s drag brunch will run every Saturday and Sunday, with the hotel opening sometime this fall.
