Lady Gaga joined U2 on stage at the Sphere in Las Vegas Wednesday night for a cameo that lasted 16 minutes and freaked out all 18K unsuspecting audience members.
Bono, 63, introduced the 37-year-old superstar by explaining to the audience that he tried to write his 1989 hit, “All I Want is You,” “from a woman’s point of view.”
I’ve sung it to women, but I’ve never sung it with a woman,” the singer said. “We’re going to do just that tonight. Not just any woman — the most audacious, vivacious woman in any room she’s ever in.”
Gaga strode out to thunderous applause in a black leather biker jacket, black platform heels, and Bono-esque black shades. She hugged Bono before they launched into the tune.
Next, the duo segued into a cover of “Shallow,” Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s Oscar-winning hit from the soundtrack to “A Star is Born.”
Finally, Gaga belted out lines from U2’s 1987 signature song, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” which included a coda from Primal Scream’s 1991 hit “Movin’ On Up.”
Between songs, Gaga joked with the audience, telling them “I was in the desert, and I ran into you f—ing guys.” During Gaga’s lines, Bono cheered her on with exultations including “Take it to the Elvis chapel!” and “You are the vestal virgin of Las Vegas!”

This wasn’t Gaga’s first rodeo with the Irish icons. Back in 2015, she joined them at New York’s Madison Square Garden for a run through “Ordinary Love,” U2’s contribution to the soundtrack for the 2013 Nelson Mandela biopic “Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.”
It wasn’t even Gaga’s only cameo with one of the world’s biggest rock bands in the space of a week. Last Thursday, she guested with the Rolling Stones at the 500-capacity Racket Club in Chelsea, New York. That appearance was less of a surprise, however, since Gaga duets with Mick Jagger on “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” a song from the Stones’ new “Hackney Diamonds” album.
Gaga wrapped up the latest leg of her long-running Vegas residency, “Jazz & Piano,” at the Dolby Live at Park MGM on October 5.
U2 recently extended its “U2:UV Achtung Baby” Las Vegas residency through February 18.
